What was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?

The most interesting thing I learned about sustainable aquaculture practices is aquaculture has a chance to help people make a living, let people access and/or afford food, and human and environmental health. But there are concerns with environmental sustainability. I think that aquaculture has become more known maybe around mid-20th century.

  There have been a few problems with aquaculture, as it still seems to be a lot of animals in a small enclosure, but it does ease the pressure on wild fish populations.

What did you learn about seaweed and its importance to coastal ecosystems?

I learned that marine protected areas (MPAs) are considered as important tools that help marine conservation. They also help not cause as much climate change. I also learned that the ocean has taken in about 1/4th of CO2 emissions created by humans.

  The oceans are doing everything they can to buffer the effects of burning fossil fuels, but there will be a time when nothing more can be absorbed.

I learned that macroalgae/seaweed has 3 major classifications based off of their pigments from photosynthesis. There is green, red, and brown and they all have their own properties. There are some similarities between them like the cellulose in their cell wall composition.

I went to my deck and watered my plants. I have a few zucchini, pepper, and cucumber plants. I also have a tomato plant, 2 strawberry plants, basil, and a couple beans. I believe I started growing some of them in May and bought a couple sometime during the last few days in May. To add on to all of those, I have an aloe vera and a spider plant. I'm enjoying it!

  I like to water my plants with my dishwashing water. The soap helps keep aphids away.
