REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsCities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Ghinell Salmeron 5/24/2024 7:10 AMLet everyone be apart of it and that everyone should have a task for their own place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Ghinell Salmeron 5/17/2024 8:07 AMWhen women have the chance to work, many men look down at them and underestimate them. Women's wages are usually lower than a male's wage. It all depends on culture too. For me, my grandma didn't work and stayed at home with her kids and took care of them. My grandpa usually went out to work and maintain her. My mom stopped that, she met my dad and they both agreed they would BOTH work and help with the children. My grandma is still in the original culture that she grew up in but my mom wanted something different in her life. Thanks to her, at least my generation has a choice to either work, or stay as a housewife. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Ghinell Salmeron 5/15/2024 8:02 AMI learned how difficult it was for many women to plan a family and how much they impact the emissions on carbon dioxide. Lots of people who live in the United states have more available resources for family planning than other people from around the world. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Ghinell Salmeron 5/13/2024 8:08 AMMicro turbines can be placed somewhere where there is a flat area, and near downtown. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Ghinell Salmeron 5/03/2024 7:51 AMStop agriculture conversion and draining. Prevent wildfires from happening, like picking up cigarettes or throwing them away in the trash. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?
Ghinell Salmeron 5/02/2024 7:42 AMThe higher the temperature, the more heat they will absorb instead of water. Supermarkets use HCFC to keep items frozen. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Ghinell Salmeron 4/25/2024 7:42 AMI feel like these labels can help us which products to buy first and which ones can wait till when you come back. This can help with throwing away perfectly good products into waste.
