I got to spend some time today in a neighborhood community garden where I weeded and help pick ripe, tomatoes, peppers and basil. I then helped set up their "take away" stand for volunteers to take what they wanted. I also brought a flyer about the gardento my job and posted it.

Concrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but its carbon footprint may not be obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?

I found that steel, aluminum and PVC pipe are high contributors. I came across a very useful website where you can calculate the carbon footprint of a building project. This will be useful when we start to build our new deck next summer.

A day stuck in front of the computer working where I survived off a Starbucks latte and a Slim Jim delivered to my study area by my husband.
