Cleaning Dirty Recyclables Picked Up From School Campuses
After I picked up all the recycling and trash at the schools that I picked up litter at, I separated the recyclables from the trash and I cleaned the recyclables for six hours so that they were able to be recycled.

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, including electronics and metals.

Litter Pickup
I cleaned the campuses of Different Knox County Schools because I noticed how littered they were. I plan to share my findings with the schools and hope to implement an anti-litter program in each.

Mia Montgomery 4/23/2024 8:29 AMI took my recyclables that I collected during my litter pickup to the recycle center. This was about a 15 minute ordeal, and I enjoyed being bale to recycle so much of what I picked up! -
Mia Montgomery 4/15/2024 1:05 PMI found lots of fun things while picking up trash on the school campuses. I found this particular water bottle from UT's advertising and communications department as litter at West Valley. I thought that was kind of ironic.

Mia Montgomery 4/15/2024 1:03 PMEarlier in April and March I picked up trash at Bluegrass elementary school, West Valley middle school, and Beard and high school and I picked up a total of around 35 pounds of trash from all of the schools. Most recently was Bluegrass elementary and Bearden high school.

Mia Montgomery 4/04/2024 8:43 AMI spent almost 2 hours at West Valley Middle School picking up trash and I picked up a little over 3 pounds of trash from the campus. I plan to sort and wash the recyclable litter later and take it to the recycling plant.
