REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Haylee Heller 5/23/2024 8:10 AMI chose to read the article 'Birth Control to Fight Poverty in Guanacaste,’ which is about the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica making contraceptives more available to women in an effort to reduce poverty. A non-profit organization acknowledged the fact that the lack of access to family planning services and birth control plays an important role in women and families experiencing poverty, so their process will significantly help women get the proper care and education they deserve to prevent financial struggles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsCities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?
Haylee Heller 5/17/2024 7:40 AMI think a great first step in making our plans work for everyone would be to actually include the community. Input from residents is so important but often overlooked and I believe if the city just includes us in decision making, our improvements could turn out a lot better than other areas. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat are some more "Rs" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Haylee Heller 5/14/2024 11:42 AMEating smaller portions can be a lot healthier depending on the food you're eating. It can also make eating more enjoyable because you won't feel too full after eating, but you'll still have energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Haylee Heller 5/14/2024 11:28 AMMy experience was a lot different than it usually is, I enjoyed what I was eating a lot more and got to think about random things that I don't normally think about. It was a lot more pleasant. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Haylee Heller 5/14/2024 10:46 AMThe 2 places I go most often are school and work, and while it would be more difficult for me to get a ride to work, getting a ride from a friend to go to school could be very easy to do and we could probably figure out a schedule for each week. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Haylee Heller 5/14/2024 10:37 AMDuring my walks, I'm a lot more aware of my surroundings and feel more in touch with what's around me. I love feeling the breeze and hearing animals make sounds and being surrounded by color. Near my house there's no sidewalks and it can be dangerous to walk on the road I live on, so having sidewalks would make walking a lot more enjoyable and safer.
